Biography



Izzet Sahin was born in Sivas, Turkey in 1970. He completed primary school education in Sivas. After graduating from Istanbul Kucukkoy vocational religious high school, he studied Hadith at Medina University. Then he went to Canada to continue his education and to learn French.
He lived in Canada for five years then come back to Turkey and started to work for IHH (The Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief) at Department of Foreign Affairs. In the 28th of November, 2009, Izzet Sahin, who knows Arabic, English and French, then went to West Bank to perform supervision and scrutinizing of humanitarian aid projects and activities.
He was there to perform either scrutinizing activities and responsible as the representative of IHH Foundation. Among other things, he registered Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HaUniversita HaIvrit BeYeruşalayim) to study Hebrew. He was holding the appropriate visa and residential permit not expiring until June, 2010.
When he was performing those works, on the 27th of April, he has taken into custody, around Bethlehem, by Israeli authorities. He has been into custody since nine days. In the trial realized on 6th of May, the court has decided to extend his custody one week more, .
He is married and three children.
Izzet Sahin is a humanitarian aid official. Humanitarian aid workers are the people who have the right to be protected and supported in every condition.
